Broccoli to Kill a Salty Craving With
I actually posted this recipe on my instagram way back when but never made an official “blog post” for it ’cause I figured it was just too damn easy and looked so damn meh…. Which it totally is and does haha.
But I keep finding myself whippin’ up this savory, diet-friendly broccoli recipe and every time I’m eating it, I think “this would be SUCH a good craving buster for salty-toothed peeps.” So I said “screw it! I’m posting this shizzzzzzz” so I did and I am 🙂
I actually don’t really crave salty or savory stuff. I am, however, cursed with a brutal sweet (and peanut butter) tooth. But being an online vegan coach, I come across salt freaks ALL THE TIME. Apparently there are a lot of you chip and bread addicts out there!
So for all you salt lovin’ vegan friends, this post’s for you! And next time you’re tempted to hit up 7-11 for a bag of All Dressed Chips (a true Canadian delicacy dontcha know) whip up this broccoli olive dish instead.
It’s flavourful, super healthy, easy (and quick) to make AND the addition of green olives adds a nice, low-cal, salty element that’ll satisfy any craving.
I’ve been eating it alongside a healthified version of the Vegan Black Metal Chef’s “Chickun-Style Seitan” from his new “Seitanic Spellbook.” I’ll post the recipe for it soon too. Just gotta ask him first. 😉
So for now, there’s this:
Broccoli to Kill a Salty Craving With
Ingredients:
1 tsp. coconut oil
2 – 3 garlic cloves, minced
1 small white onion, thinly sliced
2 – 3 large-ish heads of broccoli (crowns??) chopped
2- 3 Tbsp. lemon juice or juice of a lemon
2 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar (helps to increase the HCL of your stomach, which aids in digestion helping to alkalize the body) 🙂
1 tsp. chili flakes (add more or less depending how spicy you like it)
1/2 cup sliced & pitted green olives (I’ll even add some of the olive juice into the mix)
Fresh ground pepper (optional)
Method:
Heat coconut oil in large non-stick fry pan then add garlic and onions. Sautee for a couple of minutes then add broccoli, lemon, ACV & chili flakes. Once broccoli is tender (about 12 – 15 minutes) add green olives and cook for another couple of minutes. Sprinkle with fresh ground pepper and eat that whole damn pan in one sitting if you want.
Told ya it was easy! Let me know what YOU think and if it gets all you salty freaks all turnt up. 😉
Happy, healthy cooking, vegan fit crew!

I really do wish I had a salty tooth but alas, it’s the sugary shit that sucks me right in. That being said, I have a ton of broccoli that’s about to go bad and a whole jar of cocktail olives. I’m so makin’ this!!
Okay short of eating salt with a spoon it’s time to make this recipe again. A simple quick fix. Thanks Sam<;
