Podcast #4: The Hunger Games & How a "Diet Mentality" Teaches us to not Listen to our Bodies
In a perfect world, if we just listened to our bodies, we’d eat just enough to keep them running efficiently and none of us would ever starve or overeat. But thanks to the advertising world forever shoving images of salty/sugary, fatty and delicious foods in our faces 24/7 PLUS society’s obsession with being thin, our minds and bodies constantly go into battle with each other and we get all messed up when we try to figure out what exactly we should be eating and just how much of it to eat.
Well, today on the podcast, we’re talking about all things HUNGER. We discuss how to differentiate between actual hunger and emotional hunger, how to know when you should be giving into your hunger urges and how to find that sweet spot between being nicely satisfied and not uncomfortably starved or stuffed.
I also share one of my best vegan bikini competitor prep diet exercises aka the “Instead of Eating, I’m Going To…” exercise which forces you to stay busy when you’re in the depths of competition prep mode starvation. I don’t necessarily recommend this tactic to everyone. But it is a good tool for anyone who is a chronic boredom eater or anyone who is forced to follow a very low-calorie diet. Oh and one more task you can add to the list is “listen to the latest Jacked on the Beanstalk Podcast episode.” Great idea! And on that note, here ’tis! 😉
