Podcast #41: The Effects of Alcohol on Weight Loss + Low-Calorie Vegan Drinks & All-Natural Hangover Cures
Well guys, I know I seem like quite the innocent, little angel. And for the most part, I am.
But I won't pretend that I don't indulge in the occasional night of drinking. Not often, mind you. But every once in a while, I like to throw back a few vodka and sodas.
And before I know it, I'm Frank the Tank.
For me (and most of us,) we almost always regret a night of hard boozing. For me, I just hate feeling anything less than "optimal." And when alcohol is involved, even if I don't turn into Frank the Tank, I still usually manage to let that "all or nothing" attitude sneak its way into my brain. Then the next thing I know, I'm at some shitty 24-hour diner eating a plate of french fries doused in an entire bottle of ketchup.
But let's be honest, sometimes getting drunk is lots o' fun!
And Sarah and I have had many, many a fun drunken nights together.
I tried to dig up some evidence from the two brutal nights mentioned on this week's podcast. And well, you're in luck...
Here we are early into the night at Sarah's bachelorette party. At this point, still coherent, relatively functioning people who are enjoying a good ol' karaoke duet.

We all know that a glass of red wine definitely has its heart-friendly health benefits and probably isn’t going to make us fat. BUT regardless of the type of alcohol consumed, most of us don't know that our bodies still see booze as a toxin and immediately stop digesting whatever food we've eaten to start eliminating the alcohol! That's because unlike carbs, fats and protein, alcohol is NOT an essential nutrient!
All bodily processes aside, however, how often does our willpower also fall to the wayside the moment we get a little booze into us?
And I think we can ALL admit that our post-drinking food choices aren't exactly a big green salad. Am I right?!
Does it mean we should never touch booze again? Surely there is a healthy way to enjoy the occasional cocktail without any guilt, shame or gluttony.
